Well this is a surprise! Rooney has landed her first major fashion endorsement, and it’s not with Givenchy but Calvin Klein. She is the face of their new Downtown Fragrance, and the first photo from the print advertisement has been added to the gallery. A video campaign – directed by David Fincher!! – will also be released later this fall.

Calvin Klein has cast Rooney Mara as the face of its Downtown scent, which hit counters globally in September.

“I am very excited to be included in the group of amazing women that have been featured in the iconic advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein fragrances,” Mara told WWD of her new role, which includes TV spots directed by David Fincher and print ads shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino (pictured above). “It’s an honour to be part of a brand with such a legacy of breakthrough advertising.”

Rooney has arrived in Cannes, where “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” will premiere tomorrow, but tonight she’s already out on the town, attending the party for “The Great Gatsby”, which opened the festival today. Tomorrow night she also has Calvin Klein’s Women in Film party, where she is one of the honorees.
